The Source to Sea Cleanup is an annual trash cleanup of the Connecticut River and its tributaries in NH, VT, MA & CT. Volunteer group leaders coordinate local cleanup sites where participants of all ages and abilities spend a few hours picking up trash. We all have a responsibility to solve this trash problem—individuals, manufacturers, businesses, and government. By participating in the Cleanup, the students are part of the solution for cleaner rivers!
The Bellows Falls 7th grade participated in this cleanup on Friday Sept. 28th, in partnership with the Connecticut River Conservancy, which organizes this large, source to sea effort. They also visited the Adams Grist Mill with Larry Clark and Chris Glennon of the historical society, who gave a lesson in Bellows Falls industry. They cleaned approximately a hundred pounds of garbage off the side of the river, and in town, including paint cans, glass and rusty metal, and a large amount of plastic.
